Info about the Zoom Model 5515 Bridge Modem

A High performance ADSL Modem with Ethernet Interface to connect to your Favorite Router
Setting
up your Model 5515 ADSL bridge Modem
As you can see the DSL Modem is very small so it can fit just about anywhere around your Computer set up. It has an Ethernet Interface to Connect to your Favorite Router of choice.
Getting setup and connected in less than 5 Minutes:
The Bridge Modem is pre-configured to work on most DSL Networks. Your Router does all the rest of the connectivity:
Simply plug in the Ethernet cable from the Modem into the Port on your Router. Then plug in the DSL line*.
Then go to your Router Setup screen and Enter your account info and password into the Login box.
Then enter the VPI and VCI info for the DSL service you are connecting to. For me this happened to be BellSouth so I enter VPI=8 and VCI=35.
Also select which Protocol to login with normally PPPoE.
Then clicked on Save settings and Confirm, the Router then resets with the info it needs to talk to your ISP DSL Network through the Bridge Modem.
As long as the Modem and your Router is powered up they will remain logged into the DSL Network so the system is always online.
--------------------
In the event you may need to access the Modem Interface which for most situations is not needed:
** To open the Zoom Web Console Interface by going to it's default IP of 10.0.0.2 and enter the default Username and Password found in your manual.
** Most Routers will prevent access to the private address range of 10.0.0.2 on their WAN port so you would need to connect directly to a PC set to 10.0.0.3 to access the Modem Interface.
If you have a Router that has a built in switch such as D-link 624 simply connect the Modem to one of the switch ports, then connect a Ethernet cable from another switch port back to the WAN or Internet port on the Router and you will not have to connect the PC directly to the Modem because the switch will pass the private 10.0.0.2 address to your PC. Do not leave your setup this way as it would bypass the Firewall and Routing functions of your Router and expose your network directly to the Internet.
* The Zoom 5515 Bridge Modem, X3 and X4 are unique in that it they have a DSL Microfilter built into the unit. There are many ways to keep the High Frequency separate from the low frequency Voice for Telephones in the home or business such as using a Microfilter on each Telephone Jack except the jack the Modem DSL connection of course. With this unit you can set up DSL service without requiring any more filters than the one already in the Modem and no extra wires run. We call it the No Wire Home Run

The Zoom Bridge Modem is an ADSL modem with an Ethernet interface to a computer
or a router. The Model 5515 provides a very stable system installation with
a simplified set of configuration options to ensure problem free operation.
The Bridge Modem works with any operating system which supports an Internet
browser, including Windows, Macintosh OS and Linux.
The Zoom Bridge Modem comes pre-configured to work with the most popular ADSL
service configurations.
The Model 5515 also supports the use of third party PPPoE client software to
provide compatibility with the widest range of service providers.
For most installations, the Model 5515 simply plugs into the ADSL-provisioned phone line and uses the factory settings. In the unusual event the factory default settings need to be changed, an easy-to-use graphic interface is accessed using any Web browser software.
